Punta Mita and Punta de Mita are often used interchangeably. Let me explain the difference. Punta de Mita is the town that is located on the north side of the Banderas Bay. It is pretty much everything that isn't gated. Punta Mita is a trade marked name that is the resort development that is through the gates after Punta de Mita. It is around 640 acres and encompasses many fine developments and a golf course or two. Punta Mita means luxury in any language. Also included in these listings are Litibu and Higuera Blanca. These towns are immediately to the north of Punta Mita Resort and are up and coming as "the" future of the area.
